Whilst in Florida for the second time this year in November, I decided to give Disneyworlds, Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) a try! I had just blown through my Disney Budget when I was there in July, and just couldn't justify another huge Disney expense.
Mr. Walt, you've taken enough out of my bank accounts! No more! Till July of next year, then I am visiting you in Anaheim! :)
In any case, MVMCP is an extra event Disney throw's during the Holidays, it does require an extra ticket to enter the event and you can only enter the Magic Kingdom from 4 pm - 1 am. We paid a little under 100 USD each, so it is much cheaper than a regular ticket, but whether it's worth it is a subjective issue I think.
Here is why :
1. The lines
1. The lines to get on rides is SO MUCH shorter. For example, when we visited Disneyworld in July, we had to wait most 2 hours to get on Kali River Rapids, in November with the special event, we maybe waited at most 15 minutes on each ride! We managed to cram in 6 rides in 4/5 hours.
2. Best view of the parade/castle
Because there is a limited amount of tickets available, we got to view the Disney parade in full view!
3. Less screaming kids.
My theory is because the event is much later and requires an extra ticket to enter, most parents choose to opt out? That allows for a more personal Disney feel.
4. Free cookies and hot chocolate all around the park!
Part of the attraction is the free cookies and chocolate. This year Snickerdoodles were on the menu. Last year it was Chocolate Chip.
5. It is held a few weekdays in December, which means less crowds
I went to one of the weekday events and Disney is seriously so much nicer when it isn't as crowded! And I think it helps that it is not in the middle of the summer and is held at night.
The Floridian weather can be intense, and when we were there in July, we were sweating bollocks, not nice.
Overall, if you wan't a kick start in your Christmas feeling, this is definitely the place to go!
Disney always go all out to impress it's guest, and this time was no different! The lights, the smells, the happy faces, and the general vibe just awesome! Christmas is all about that magical feeling, and I cannot think of anywhere else that can give you as much magic as Disney.
I just love it at Disney!
Of course I understand that Disney is expensive, and the Very Merry Christmas Party seems like them trying to get even more money out of us. In some ways, I agree.
But if you want to do Disney, but don't want to do the crowds to feel that little bit more "special" then this is the time and place to do it. You just have to justify the price somehow.
My only advice is : Do your research prior to arriving at Disney, make sure you know what to do, where to go, what to expect, what to try.
